Even in Little League, I towered over my peers!

Even in Little League, I towered over my peers!

Hello, my name is Torey Adkins. I am an actor/stand-up comedian raised in the working class suburbs of Detroit, Michigan. Starting at a young age, I have always stood outliterally. Already 6 foot tall by the age of 12, I was known as the “BIG” guy. I would go on to have a distinguished football career before finding my way into the crazy and exciting world of entertainment.

Born into a blue collar household with a bowling alley mechanic father, a grocery store cashier mother and a younger brother who was always at my side, I was raised to understand the importance of family and also the power of laughter.

My entrance into the world of stand-up comedy happened on a dare from some co-workers one night over pizza. The restaurant was hosting an open mic and one coworker offered to pay for the meal if I got on stage and got a laugh. Nearly 18 years later, I’m still trying to make crowds laugh with my funny stories about family and relationships.

Comedy led me into the world of acting, via commercial auditions. Once the acting bug sunk its teeth in, I was hooked. During my nearly 16 years living in Chicago, I performed in many theatre productions as well as landing roles in films and tv shows. I have been lucky to share the screen with such acting heavyweights as Hugh Jackman and Jesse Eisenberg, and have worked with acclaimed directors like Reuben Fleischer and Shawn Levy.

In 2018, I came down with a random illness that nearly claimed my life and left me partial paralyzed. After months of tireless work in physical therapy and a promise to myself that I would never give up, I regained my ability to walk again and have since resumed both my comedy and acting endeavors. Stay tuned because my best is yet to come!
